Operating System For PC With Google Chrome

>> Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Windows 7 will be marketed new start date of October 22. Despite the latest OS is not yet to out, Windows 7 is getting a challenge from Google, with release the Google Chrome project for OS.

Google released Chrome last year, describing it as not only a Web browser but also a tool to let users interact with powerful Web programs like Gmail, Google Docs and online applications created by other companies. Since then, Google has been adding features to Chrome, like the ability to run such applications even when a user is not connected to the Internet.

Interestingly, Google Chrome OS deliberately made open source and targeted for use on the netbook. In other words, the OS can be developed by all people in the world and of course, free. For developers who want to develop this OS, Google said that this code of OS akan diopen source since the end of this year, and for the netbook market will be there in the second quarter 2010.

For the development of the OS, especially for the development of the netbook, Google has been working with several renowned vendors such as Acer, Adobe, ASUS, Freescale, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and Toshiba. By working with the vendor, and Google shows the seriousness in developing this OS.

Google Chrome OS is planned to be able to run on x86 and ARM chip. Both the x86 and ARM found in many start netbook.

Google Chrome the OS will work with the new windowing system, the Linux kernel. So in other words, this OS is a website that works like a browser an OS.

“Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS,” said Sundar Pichai, vice president of product management, and Linus Upson, engineering director, in a post on a company blog. “We’re designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the Web in a few seconds.”

Mr. Pichai and Mr. Upson said that the software would be released online later this year under an open-source license, which would allow outside programmers to modify it. Netbooks running the software will go on sale in the second half of 2010.

The question for the community to become computer users in some forums is why Google does not only develop Android. As we know, Android has been developed and have become some smartphone OS, such as HTC Magic. In fact, also said Android has been able to work well on some netbook. To solve this problem, Google recognizes the overlap occurs. However, Android does not have the ability to work well enough in the x86, while Google Chrome for OS claimed can walk better.
