Uninstall Windows XP from Command Prompt

>> Monday, January 4, 2010

One feature that has Windows XP is the ability to uninstall XP after we managed to upgrade from Windows 98, 98SE, or Windows Me. Uninstall generally done via the tool [Add / Remove Programs] in the Control Panel in Windows normal boot conditions.

However, if the way is not successful, we can go into Safe Mode and remove Windows via Add / Remove Programs. If this way failed, perhaps the only way is through the Command Prompt.

The following way:
1. Type cd and press [Enter].
2. Type cd-windows-system32 and then press [Enter].
3. Type osuninst.exe and press [Enter].

Next follow the instructions on the screen that will help restore the computer to a previous operating system.

Keep in mind, this way can only be done if prior to upgrade to Windows XP you have to backup the previous operating system, otherwise you have to do it as Administrator or user who has administrator access.
